“Azerbaijan is strengthening its leadership position in regional and global energy policy by taking important steps in the “green energy transition.”
Reports that Elnur Soltanov, Deputy Minister of Energy, executive director of COP29, stated this at the event “More than production: creating infrastructure to achieve energy transition goals.”
According to him, the Transcaspian project is of particular importance for the creation of “green energy corridors” and aims to build new energy infrastructure in Azerbaijan.
“There are many issues related to the management of networks that produce electricity from fossil fuels in the region. Currently, international experience in the management of energy networks powered by more than 50% fossil energy is not sufficiently developed. However, “Azerbaijan’s extensive oil and gas industry infrastructure expertise, as well as a developed financial and engineering base, provide the country with a significant advantage in this transition process,” he said.
E. Soltanov added that, based on this experience of Azerbaijan, work is rapidly continuing in the direction of building “green energy corridors” with both Europe and Central Asia.
“The Trans-Caspian Energy Belt will be perhaps the first ‘green energy’ cable line, and the realization of this project will constitute an important turning point in Azerbaijan’s regional energy policy,” he said.
