American businessman Elon Musk, along with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, will head the Office of Government Efficiency during Donald Trump’s presidency. The billionaire has already promised to drastically reduce bureaucracy in US government agencies.
As The Wall Street Journal reports, Musk intends to save hundreds of billions of dollars spent on government spending, including funding public broadcasting and international aid, as well as bureaucratic red tape. According to the businessman, bureaucracy represents a real threat to American democracy.
“We are businessmen, not politicians. We serve as outside volunteers, not as federal officials or employees,” wrote Musk and Ramaswamy, who are working together to rein in government spending.
Musk and Ramaswamy added that cutting regulations would pave the way for “massive reduction in the size of the federal bureaucracy”and said they intend to cut public spending by more than $500 billion.
