The employment of people with disabilities and guaranteeing support and services at all stages of their lives are the two objectives included in the new Strategic Plan approved yesterday by the Governing Council, which includes 211 actions, articulated in ten axes, thanks to a budget of 1.8 billion. euros until 2027, which is 132 percent more than what has been achieved so far.

The vice-president and advisor for Family and Equal Opportunities, Isabel Blanco, was responsible for explaining an initiative which is intended to be “transversal and affects all ministries”. For that, Support for users will be strengthened, the Early Care servicehas in rural areas or resources for active aging of older people. The integration of disabled people into the labor market is one of its main objectives, to the point that it wants to reach 11,800 jobs – 2,600 more than in the previous plan – and that 2% of administrative positions are intended for this. band. To this end, it is proposed to give a definitive boost to socio-professional integration routes, the budget of which will increase by 80 percent.

Another novelty of the new Strategic Plan is the definitive support for the promotion of care for disabled users and, above all, in their own homes. To this end, the amount allocated to the social and health care of these people increases considerably – by 93% – from 287.1 million to 552.9 million euros. In this context, programs such as “Like at home” are reinforced so that they can receive all the necessary care at home.

A service which is also seeing significant growth is the care of children with disabilities in rural areas, called Early Care. With a budget increase of more than 187% – reaching 1.8 million euros – investment in equipment and service personnel is improved, particularly in rural areas. For the elderly, in addition to strengthening care both at home and in residential centers, an amount of 122.7 million euros will also be allocated.
