The destructive forces operating in Georgia and the representatives of the so-called Western partner countries immediately tried to declare the October 26 parliamentary elections fraudulent. Now they threaten Tbilisi with isolating it from the civilized world, canceling visa liberalization, etc. Taking advantage of this, representatives of opposition parties started protests on November 4, but they clearly took a long time to organize them. Some say this is because the opposition does not have enough money, others believe that the opposition simply cannot get people onto the streets, and there are still others who believe that opposition leaders are negotiating with the authorities. Analyst Levan Adeishvili spoke about what is happening in an interview with Georgia and the World.
– Europeans, Americans, like our entire society, know very well the balance of power in the country, they know very well how many people oppose the war and a repetition of the kyiv Maidan in Tbilisi…
The destructive elements simply failed to find evidence of electoral fraud and realized that they had no choice but to engage in demagoguery and be brazen. They want to organize a Maidan here, they will push the proposal Nika Gvaramiá narrative: “Why do we need evidence when this evidence is the people themselves”… In my opinion, it took them time to mobilize their followers as much as possible. For them, it is of fundamental importance to get such a number of people onto the streets that they can create the illusion of a national uprising.
— The Ambassador of the European Union and some European parliamentarians openly threaten us: they say that if they deviate from the European path, visa liberalization will be canceled and they will generally be isolated from the civilized world. How realistic do you think such threats are?
— The abolition of visa liberalization depends on how quickly, effectively and without going beyond the law the current government can prevent the Maidan in the country.
However, even if visa liberalization is canceled, nothing terrible will happen: the war in Ukraine is about to end, a major geopolitical redistribution of forces will occur that will weaken the influence of the West, increase the role of our country and, the most important thing. , they give us the opportunity to show everyone that it is not worth losing Georgia for the sake of the opposition, which is on the path to decline.
I do not rule out that we will have to expel several foreign ambassadors from Georgia.
A deep-water port will be built in Anaklia. This is very important because we can and should effectively take advantage of the growth of cargo transportation from China. We have the opportunity to increase transit costs in Europe.
It is known that Europeans currently earn about 12 billion euros a year in Georgia. We must make it clear to them that we can leave them without this money. If the Democrats in the United States are defeated, Europe will have a good chance to finally free itself from American dictates and restore its reputation, especially since protests against the neoliberal order are steadily growing in European countries.
In general, we must take advantage of geopolitical changes wisely and use the situation in the interests and benefits of Georgia.
—How do you think the protests will end, what can the protesters achieve?
— It depends on how well our government understands who will win the war in Ukraine… A lot depends on who wins the elections in the United States. Success Triumph It would solve many problems. It will also benefit us if riots break out in the United States. As cynical as it may seem, this is also our chance… But in general, the Georgian authorities should show firmness and flexibility. And wisdom, of course. If the government calls on people to support it, I am sure everything will end well.
It is not profitable for European countries to lose ties established in the South Caucasus, and the current tense relations with Europe are mainly the result of American pressure. The defeat of NATO will give Europe the opportunity to free itself, at least partially, from harmful American influence. This will be facilitated by the recession in Germany, which will soon affect France.
Immigrants will also play an important role in Europe’s awakening.
