The President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, shared about his participation in the COP29 Leaders Summit held in Baku.

To achieve zero waste and green development by 2053, President Erdoğan stated that the leading sectors of the Turkish economy are gradually being renewed and mentioned the Action Plan for the years 2024-2030 on the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy implemented by the government. .
Noting that the share of renewable energy in Turkey’s total energy production reached 59 percent, the Head of State emphasized that his country ranks fifth in Europe and eleventh in the world according to this indicator.
“Until 2053, our top priorities are renewable energy, energy efficiency and nuclear energy. We plan to increase Turkey’s wind and solar energy potential from 31 thousand MW to 120 thousand MW by 2035. Our target in nuclear energy is 20 thousand MW by 2050. We also plan to reduce emissions by 100 million tons of gas over the next six years,” the statement reads.
Noting the importance of the “Zero Waste” project implemented under the auspices of the President of Turkey, his wife Emina Erdogan, it was stated that this initiative gave impetus to the fight against climate change.
“I believe that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will make global efforts in this direction stronger and more effective.
