In the last 24 hours, the Ertzaintza arrested eight people linked to the violent shooting that shook This Sunday afternoon the streets of Barakaldeither. The incident, which left one dead and two injured, a 50-year-old man, was highlighted when two family clans, neighbors of the gate, fought in the middle of a public road. What started as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into an out-of-control situation when some of those involved pulled out firearms.
The fatal victim, whose identity has not been released, died from gunshots that also injured two of his relatives. After the attack, the attackers fled the scenewhile the tension moved to the Cruces Hospital, where an eighth person was later arrested for disobedience.
The neighborhood remains on alert, with the area heavily guarded by dozens of officers who continue to collect evidence, while neighbors express fear of possible revenge. At the scene of the crime, relatives of the deceased arrived shouting threats such as “we are going to kill you all”addressing the rival clan.
The Ertzaintza carried out several searches and evacuated two adjacent buildings, in an attempt to avoid more incidents in a tense situation that seems far from resolved. The detainees, including five men and two women, are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the shooting. The authorities fear that the confrontation could lead to further violent actions.
