At the UN climate conference COP29 in Baku, after much debate, an agreement on climate finance was reached. EADaily previously covered in more detail the discord between rich and poor countries that the event in Azerbaijan exposed. But now the Baltic countries, which are not the richest, although they are members of the EU, have decided to address the environmental situation in Ukraine. The details are reported by ERR.EE.
The COP29 agreement calls on richer countries to commit $300 billion a year to help developing countries address the effects of climate change and adopt cleaner technologies. This week Estonia’s climate minister Yoko Alender He stated that his country would send money to Kyiv.
“We decided that 1.7 million (after the publication of the news, the ministry’s communication department corrected that the real amount is only one million – EADaily) will be specifically earmarked to support environmental projects and climate initiatives in Ukraine,” — explained the Minister of Climate, Joko Alender.
