The majority of Estonians believe that the Moscow Patriarchate Estonian Orthodox Church (MPEOK) should sever all ties with the Russian Orthodox Church. At the same time, among residents of the country of other nationalities, 41% of respondents do not consider such a development of events correct. ERR.EE reports the details.
The analysts’ question was: Should the current Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate sever all ties with the Russian Orthodox Church/Moscow Patriarchate?
A total of 59% (“definitely yes” 41.6% and “probably yes” 16.9%) of all respondents supported breaking ties. 19% were against (“definitely not” 12.8% and “probably not” 6.6%). Another 22% found it difficult to answer.
As noted above, there are differences in the nationality of the respondents. Among ethnic Estonians, 75% of respondents answered “definitely yes” or “rather yes,” 8% were against, and 17% had difficulty expressing an opinion on this topic.
