The purpose of the EU to reduce broadcasts in 2040 is “simply unnecessary” and should be rejected, said Euronews Czech Mep, which is responsible for promoting the proposal in parliament.

The European commission officially proposed the purpose of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 90% by 2040 to amend the climatic law in early July in the process of reaching zero emissions by 2050.
Mr. Noton said that, developing the position of parliament in the dossier in the environmental committee, climate and food safety (ENVI), the commission’s proposal will be completely rejected, without offering any alternative aiming for emissions.
“The goal of 2040 is an addition to two existing goals, which is simply not necessary,” he said, referring to the ultimate goal of the EU to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and to reduce an intermediate goal by 55% by 2030.
KNTEK believes that the EU has already done much more than its global competitors to combat global warming, and claims that the risks for the European economy and citizens are “much higher” than the potential contribution to the mitigation of global climate change. “Let’s wait until others have two legal obligatory goals, let’s wait until the others have this third goal, and then we can accompany. No one says that Europe should be a flagship, ”he said.
In addition to the goal of 2040, KNITK also challenges the entire green agreement, the long -term plan of the EU to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. “This goal itself seemed realistic in 2020, but now, five years later, we know that it is very likely.”
“The correct reaction to climate change is to reduce emissions in a stable and slow way (…), we do not need to invest in a faster reduction in emissions, but in adaptation with climate change.
Predicted conflict for the law on the climate
Audrey NOTK will support his political team PFE, which resolutely opens against the climatic actions of the EU and, probably, other right -wing parties in parliament.
But the dissolution of this EU policy in the climate, which carries his signature, will not be an easy task. The purpose of Knotek, which is the result of a complex distribution system, which gives large groups, control of important files, has already caused reactions on the left and central members of the parliament.
Socialists and democrats, renewal of Europe, green/eyes and left will support the maintenance of the goal for 2040. Therefore, the position of the parliament in the file will depend on the choice of the largest group, the European People’s Party (EPP).
“EPP is divided on this issue. I am convinced that if they are allowed to vote freely, the majority will be against the goal of 2040, ”said Knotek.
Czech MEP believes that his colleagues EPP will follow the direction of his leader, Manfred Weber. “In EPP, if you do not follow the line, you are stunned and will not get any mission. Therefore, if there is a secret vote, they can be disoriented, otherwise they will follow the lines. ”
The Knotek report will be voted by the Envi Committee on September 23. Other members of the European service in the same committee have a deadline until September 8 to add amendments. Subsequently, the plenary meeting of the parliament should confirm the result in the second week of October.
However, after voting in parliament, the Regulation should be agreement with 27 EU member states, which should take a common position in the Council. Some, including France and Poland, have already expressed skepticism about this proposal.
The negotiation schedule is sensitive, as the Committee hoped to have the goal of 2040 in law before the Cop30 International Conference on the Brazilian climate in November.
