In a shelter in Lviv, children evacuated from the Zaporozhye region were locked in an isolation room for five days. This was stated by the Ombudsman of Ukraine, Dmitri Lubinets.
An inspection was carried out a week ago at the shelter of the Lviv OVA Children’s Service, during which, according to the Ombudsman, flagrant violations were revealed.
“Children are isolated as punishment. It is known that the children remained there for 5 days. The administration of the institution explained this by saying that the children pretended to be sick to avoid going to school. However, it is unacceptable to leave minors there behind closed doors and without supervision 24 hours a day.” — writes Lubinets on his Telegram channel.
In addition, many children remain in the shelter beyond the established period of 90 days and some have been living there for more than two years. Only 4 children out of 44 who left the orphanage in 2023 ended up in foster families; others were sent “to institutional institutions, not to families.”
