The President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, visited this Monday the town of Torrent, one of the most affected by DANA on October 29. His destination was the inauguration of a bus shuttle that will connect this point to Valencia and there Mazón met a group of neighbors who reprimanded him and demanded responsibility for his management of the crisis.
This was not the first time the president heard cries of “Mazón resign” – that was the motto of last Saturday’s massive demonstration in Valencia. But today the head of the Generalitat also heard protests against the delay in sending the alert to citizens or against his delay in arriving at the meeting of the crisis committee when the water was already flooding the streets .
Mazón answered all questions. “You are incompetent,” one of the citizens told him. “It was a quantity of water that they had not warned us about before,” the president replied. “There has been an alarm since seven thirty,” replied the neighbor, referring to the first warnings issued that day by AEMET. “It took you two hours to raise the alarm,” he continues, “people are dying and you eat, you eat, you are incompetent, you should be ashamed.”
The President of the Generalitat tried to talk with the neighbors while they continued to say “no, lies” to his answers. According to the images recorded by Tele Torrent, Mazón can be heard saying that “there were warnings”, but when one of the neighbors adds that “you were eating with your friend”, the president gestures with his head and responds “no, we were working, I was “Everyone in their place”.
As he left the scene, Mazón said “I understand” to the neighbors and continued walking as shouts of “resign now” were heard. During his other visit this Monday, to the CV-33 factories, the president admitted that “without a doubt” errors could have been made in his management of DANA.
Mazón said this morning that his team is working to “adapt the entire structure of the Valencian Government to the work of rebuilding DANA” and has scheduled Thursday, the day of his appearance at the Corts, to “start talking about politics.” » and avoid “hoaxes and shocking or even unpleasant insinuations”.
