Teachers and students of the Second Baccalaureate already know the exam model of the new EBAU, which will now be called PAU (University Access Test), after the Junta de Castilla y León published today on the Education Portal the new of the exam. Ordinary appeal tests in the Community They will take place on June 3, 4 and 5, with a maximum duration of 90 minutesand at least 70 percent of the test must contain open-ended questions, not multiple choice questions. In addition, from the third spelling mistake in all subjects, with the exception of Language and Literature and Foreign Language, 0.10 will be subtracted up to a maximum of one point, with the particularity that both first mistakes will not deduct anything. Errors in writing, presentation, lack of coherence and cohesion, lexical or grammatical errors can cause a maximum loss of half a point. The sum of these deductions can never exceed one point.
According to the general criteria for correcting the PAU for the 2024-2025 academic year, consulted by the Ical Agency, the deduction in the Spanish language and literature exam is extended to two points. In this case, the first error will not be penalized but for the second error 0.25 points will be subtracted. For writing errors, presentation errors or inaccuracies, a maximum point may be deducted.
The structure of the exercise will include six questions, five questions on language referring to a text (linguistic commentary, with 3.5 points; questions on reading reflection, 2.5 points and syntactic reflection questions) and another on literature, which will consist of a literary commentary, with four points. Among the grading criteria, it will be appreciated that the student responds in a “brief and precise” but not schematic manner; explain answers as “clearly as possible” and master consistent terminology.
In another of the subjects common to all students of the Second Lycée like the History of Spain, there will be three blocks. One, with short questions (4 points); another, commentary on a historical source (3 points) and the last, which will have two options (3 points), with the in-depth development of a subject (approximately one and a half sides). In each of them, the student is invited to write with order, clarity, synthesis and grammatical accuracy. Obviously, the order of exposition, geographical and chronological, of historical facts (main characters, events and fundamental dates) will be valued.
The Mathematics II exercise will consist of four sectionswith 2.5 points for each. Regarding the structure of the exam, you will not be able to choose between two blocks, as was the case before, although students will have several options to choose from in certain parts of the exam. Answers to questions or tasks must be made in a reasoned manner in the process followed in their resolution, with the necessary “rigor” and “precision”, using appropriate language, notation and mathematical symbols and using arguments, justifications, explanations. and “explicit” and “coherent” reasoning.
The ministry emphasizes that the examination juries of the PAU of Castile and León next June – which will take place on July 1, 2 and 3 for the extraordinary call – will evaluate “specifically” the expression capacity and linguistic accuracy of the students.
In accordance with the agreement signed by the autonomous communities governed by the Popular Party (PP), all will evaluate on the same contents and agree on the correction criteria, with the aim of “more homogenizing” the test. The evaluable topics associated with each content block have been specified. In this way, in Castile and León, as defended by the Junta, it will be possible to evaluate knowledge about terrorism and the attacks of ETA and Grapo.
