Exhibition of the peasant war with AI: AI welcomes the peasant war

The Monastery of Shussenrida left on March 29, 1525 with a blue eye. Farmers plundered the monastery, destroyed the inventory and literally pursued the abbot on tin, but compared to other monasteries who stormed anti -dedicaral farmers during this time, the damage was low. It was only a hundred years later during the thirty -year war. Secularized monastery construction is still shining in Baroque and Rococo.

Like farmers, you can take 500 years later after the Ufferur in the monastery. The bus from the bad railway station SchussenRied rarely drives. In addition to historical plunder, the fact that the exhibition of the Central State for the 500th anniversary of the peasant wars in the south -wrestling with the title of Ufferur did not put not in the capital of the state, but in a somewhat remote pool between Ulm and Ravtensburg.

This is the area in which many still identify themselves with the events of that time. The green prime minister came from the region and wished at a popular exhibition for the anniversary. But it is also well suited in general. If you fall on your way, it immediately becomes clear: the history of peasant wars was written not in the centers of power, but in places such as Lauda-Königshofen, Stühlingen and Bad SchussenRied.

In fact, Baden-Württemberg was a little late with memories of uprisings that began in Forest member in 1524. In Tyurin, another big scene of peasant wars, a large exhibition was opened last year. The federal president has already recognized twelve articles developed by farmers in March in Memhangin, as the oldest German declaration of civil rights and the rule of law. But the exhibits shown in bad swcumines and, above all, their mediation is impressive.

Modern imprints of the Memmingen Freedom document are collected here. The village and performances of Albrecht Dürer and the drawing of Lucas Kranach senior are other main moments of the exhibition. One of the most important exhibits is the “Weisenau chronicle”, the hidden book of objects of the peasant war, which the abbot of the Weissenau monastery entrusted Jacob Moore and which describes the processes of the peasant war in eleven images. The chronicle in private ownership belongs to the Waldburg-Sil family and is rarely found in the original.

The number of exhibits was deliberately wanted to maintain a limited number, explains the team of the curator Ingrid-Sibilla Hoffmann and Marco Veroneserie. The motto was: outside the showcase, it was more important to create conflicts and moods of that time to be tangible.

It is not easy to translate the conflicts of the feudal society for today. Of course, it was about freedom – but they were understood differently than today. Farmers were by no means insignificant and uneducated, even being serfs, one could get to a certain wealth and reputation. To create conflicts, as well as the cruelty of that time, of course, the exhibition appears at the exhibition eight characters from the moment that were not represented by actors, but were created by artificial intelligence. Eight figures in smooth fantasy aesthetics counteract the visitor in forecasts and represent their view of the uprising. For example, the famous Knight, Goetz von Berlichingen, carries a cyborg hand instead of his iron fist, which resembles a terminator.

The explorely slightly pixo aesthetics Ki should clarify that armor and robes are not genuine representations and that the characters put words in the mouth. A successful experiment, which is torn, for example, when at the end of the exhibition as the only fictitious figure, the “unknown farmer” is depicted by the real actor Herbert Knaup and the regrettable empty space of modern sources fills out: farmers’ opinion on farmers.

Since the historiography of the peasant wars is primarily associated with the fact that there are no written certificates of rebels, but only judgments, contracts or reports, as well as interpretation of the victorious authorities. They conduct a distortion of cruel clogging, looting and murders of farmers who have long formed our historical picture. According to historians, most victims can be found on the side of farmers: from 20,000 to 100,000 deaths could ask for wars among the rebels.

A suspect victim of the victorious historiography – Margaret Renner, one of the characters generated by AI. Hillbron farmer was one of the few famous women of the peasant war of 1525. She opposed the authorities and his arbitrarily increased taxes at an early stage, became active after the death of her husband herself and appeared as an adviser to farmers.

They presented modern reports as a fanatical and cruel leader, for example, using the fat of the murdered Count Helfenstein, to rub the shoes after the bloody case of Weinsberg – accusations for which there is no evidence. Renner was arrested after the uprising, but was released by the intercessor. Her picture changed in a recent study: from a demonized rebel to a figure of feminist identification. Today you see historians as an example of self-confident women in the peasant war, which for a long time was considered “without women”, as the curator of Ingrid-Sibilla Hoffmann says.

But the exhibition at Bad SchussenRied is only part of the country’s activity on this issue. In addition to the UFFFRUHR in the monastery and the historical comic book, which finds its audience on Instagram, the road show is the most ambitious project. For this purpose, the curators arranged a spectacle with game stations, open -stage formats and a figured theater, which from Laufim to Bretten in the summer of 15 historical places of the peasant war. In each place, local events are considered, and local groups, some of which are still intensively associated with peasant wars, are integrated.

It was not always easy to agree on a historical picture, reports Jan Warneke, who looks after a road show in the State Museum of Württemberg. Since regional historical groups or traditional countries, services are serious about the subject, have their knowledge of processes from the point of view and in some cases, as well as their own truths.

At first glance, some references to the present seem obvious. For example, at the nursing exhibition “Protest” in the old lock of Stuttgart, which has recently dealt with riots. Like today, the time of the peasant war was a time of shock, the curator of Voronsi explains. The invention of the printed press and the popularity of leaflets, the purpose of the Reformation spread in the shortest possible time.

Today there is still a fragile world order and revolution in the media. And protesters against farmers, as well as recently, rely on peasant patterns to follow a late middle age. Vinfrid Kretschmann, who wanted this peasant military exhibition, all people, was the goal of protests as a representative of the authorities and green politics.

On Wednesday, the ash, on Wednesday, 2024, he had to evade Biberach in front of the burning drains of hay. Sometimes violent farmers blocked the town hall. But parallels, so they can be so close, limited. Instead of political participation, freedom and justice, such as colleagues, the order 500 years ago, farmers were concerned about the privileges of diesel points and EU subsidies on their tractors.
