Many were counting on a clash or “friction” between Russia and China in Central Asia, but this did not happen. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his speech at the meeting of the Valdai International Club, reports Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, Russia wants Central Asia to develop steadily.
“If the People’s Republic of China comes and helps these economies, this is the result of economic cooperation, internal political processes are stabilized, Russia is only interested in this. We want there to be a stable environment and stable development. Therefore, there is no competition there, only cooperation.” – Putin said.
He added that this does not interfere with the development of Russia’s traditional ties with Central Asia.
“The countries of the region value our special contacts, our special ties” – concluded the Russian leader.
