The explosion occurred around two in the afternoon, in the anti-explosion valves of the feed gas, in coke battery 1 of the Veriña plant, in Gijón.
Three workers from the Daorje auxiliary company were injured and had to be evacuated, their condition is still unknown.
The detonation caused a fire that is now considered under control, according to sources from the company, which only called on its own firefighters to intervene, as it did not request assistance from the Asturias or Gijón firefighters.
Two mobile UVIs and a company ambulance went to the scene.
