A strong explosion occurred this Wednesday afternoon and a half in the industrial zone of Toledo. Members of the National Police, Local Police, firefighters and health resources were mobilized following the explosion alert into the pharmaceutical company Alcaliber, as sources from 112 Castilla-La Mancha confirmed to ABC. It appears that there are three people affected by the explosion, two slightly injured and another who could be more seriously injured, according to the mayor of the capital, Carlos Velazquez, who traveled to the region to see for himself the seriousness of the event. The injured man was taken to University Hospital for smoke inhalation and burns, according to the mayor.
The explosion occurred in one of the isobutanol tanks and the fire that occurred is brought under control thanks to the factory’s foam concentrates, while emergency teams are already working on site.
The notice, as indicated, was received at 12:34 p.m. at this business, located on Río Ventalomar Avenue. The Schweppes factory, neighboring the pharmaceutical company, was evacuated. Initially closed, AVE traffic has been reopened.
Several medical facilities, an intensive care unit and an ambulance were also dispatched to the scene.
