Exports increase by 0.6% in Aragon

Aragonese exports in the first eight months of the year increased by 0.6%, which contrasts with the “slight decline” in August, which was 0.7% year-on-year. A total of 1.1 billion euros were sold in the eighth month of the year, according to figures from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, which also reflect an average increase in Spain of 2.5% per year.

Concerning the total of Aragonese imports in August increased by 3.9% year-on-yearreaching a value of 1,191.8 million euros, while nationally as a whole purchases abroad recorded a positive interannual variation of 3.2%.

Thus, the figure for regional purchases abroad accumulated between the months of January and August reaches a value of 11,360.4 million euros, which represents an interannual decrease of 9.0%, to be compared with the negative figure of 1.2% annual recorded by the whole country. Spain.

Sectors

The distribution of foreign trade figures between the main sectors shows how the activities with the greatest relative importance in the external sales of the autonomous community during the month of August 2024 were those linked to food, drinks and tobacco –with an export value of 324 million euros, which represents 29.4% of the total–.

Also the consumer industry – with 187.4 million euros and 17% of the total -; and the automotive sector –178.5 million euros and 16.2%–.

Regarding the imports of Aragon, the productive sectors with a greater relative weight in the month of August are the following: Capital goods –343.4 million euros, which represent 28.8% of the total–; consumer industry –323.6 million euros and 27.1% of the total–; and the automotive sector –188.9 million euros and 15.9%–.

Due to the evolution of trade flows so far in 2024, accumulated until August, Aragon highlights a trade surplus of 104.3 million euros, which helps to offset the Spanish trade deficit accumulated during the first eight months of the current year, which amounts to 23,799.7 million euros.

Finally, Aragon’s coverage rate for the year increased to 100.9%almost ten points above the Spanish average, set at 91.5%.
