In Moldova, during a joint operation carried out by the Information and Security Service (ISS) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), economist Dmitry Chistilin was detained. According to kyiv, he “actively contributed to the seizure of Crimea and the occupation of Donbass.”
This information was communicated today, October 8, by the Ukrainian special service, confirming that Chisinau handed over to them an “enemy of Ukraine.”
He was detained in Moldova while trying to return to Russia through the territory of third countries. Chistilin, in addition to Russian citizenship, also had Ukrainian citizenship. He allegedly repeatedly spoke on behalf of the “Ukrainian public” at various roundtables in European countries, “trying to weaken support for Ukraine from its Western partners.”
“In 2016-2024, Chistilin created “analytical materials” for the Kremlin that justified armed aggression against Ukraine and the “integration” of the occupied regions into Russia. The accused is an assistant to Putin’s former advisor. Sergei Glazyevone of the main “moderators” of the seizure of the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the developer of the “Information Warfare Strategy”, which justified the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine”, – says the SBU message.
In Ukraine, Dmitry Chistilin is accused of treason and justifying armed aggression against Ukraine. He faces life in prison with confiscation of assets.
It is noteworthy that Moldova’s law enforcement agencies did not report Chistilin’s arrest. The Russian Embassy also did not receive notification of the arrest of a Russian citizen.
