Jeyhun, born in 2001 in Samukh district, killed his fellow villager Vugar (names withheld – ed.) during a dispute arising from personal relations.
According to information obtained by Telegraf.com, Jeyhun drank alcohol at a wedding party in the village of Samukh district on November 9 last year around 4 pm. While he was in front of the wedding cave, he saw his companion Vugar, born in 1986, leaving the wedding with his wife Nazli.
Jeyhun followed the couple out of the bridal cave. At a distance of 60 meters from the cave, he threatened Vugar with a knife and cursed him.
Later, to kill him, he involved Vugar in a conflict and attempted to stab him during a hand-to-hand fight. Despite Vugar’s attempt to escape, he stabbed her with a knife in front of his wife. Vugar died from his injuries.
“He asked me to apologize”
The investigative body has charged Jeyhun with articles 120.2.2 (murder with vandalism) and 120.2.4 (murder with special cruelty or dangerous method) of the Penal Code.
Jeyhun, who testified as a defendant in the criminal case, pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
He stated in his statement that 7 or 8 months before the incident he passed through the doors of the deceased Vugar: “At that time, Vugar’s father asked me why I had gone to see his daughter-in-law Nazli and entered her house. However, , I didn’t go to Vugargil’s house, I just passed by the courtyard of the house where Vugar lived. Since it is a village, the doors of the houses are close to each other.
Before that, Vugar made statements about me not being a good guy at work. Following this conversation, I went to Vugar’s house and asked him what he had done wrong. “He told me he has a memory problem and asked me to apologize for what he said.”
“They said he had an intimate relationship with his girlfriend.”
According to Jeyhun’s statement, a few days later there was a soldiers’ party in the village: “I attended. When I left the party, Vugar invited us to have tea at his house. Although I said I couldn’t go because I was drunk, Vugar insisted. I took him back to his house because he was drunk. I heard that I took him back to his house. That’s why there was a rumor between us that he couldn’t come to the village. There was an intimate relationship between us and Nazli.
Once, when I arrived in town by car, Vugar’s mother stoned me and threatened me with a stick in her hand. Therefore, I went to Mingachevir city and stayed in Bibimgil for 3 or 4 months. From there I went to work in Lachin district.
After returning from Lachin, my father was not at home, so I went to the wedding. When I stood in front of the cave after writing the money, Vugar asked me why I was looking at his wife. I also said that I didn’t look at Nazli, that he was talking about Nazli with me.
I said you left your wife at her father’s house and then brought her back, if you were a good man you wouldn’t have done that. There was another argument between us and we fought outside the cave. Vugar hit me and I fell. Then I threw a knife at his arm to protect myself. But the knife hit the heart. “I didn’t want Vugar to die.”
“He asked me why I destroyed his family”
The defendant then said that Vugar’s father, Ramil, spread the rumor about his relationship with Nazli in the village:
“Ramil told my father about this. However, my father did not tell me anything about it. I found out after returning from Mingachevir.
Ramil saw me in front of his house and said he was walking with his daughter-in-law Nazli. However, Vugar himself didn’t tell me anything about it. There was no fight between Vugar and me because of the rumors about Nazli. Neither Vugar nor I have complained to the police about each other.
Following the words of his father Ramil, Vugar placed his wife Nazli in his father’s house. After that, he called me and asked me why I had separated his family. And I said there is no such thing. As far as I know, Vugar and Nazli filed for divorce in court.
I don’t know why they suspected that we had a relationship with Nazli. I knew Nazli as a villager.”
“I told them they made a name for me”
Jeyhun noted that Vugar returned his wife Nazli to his house a little later: “If we were in a relationship, Vugar would not have returned Nazli to his house again.”
According to Jeyhun’s testimony, they stood in front of Vugar on one knee: “Vugar took a stone from the ground and hit me on the back, then he punched me in the ear area. I fell on my back. Vugar climbed on top of him. me and hit me.” To protect myself, I took the knife out of my jacket pocket and wanted to hit him on the arm, but then I discovered that the knife hit him in the heart.
After stabbing Vugar with a knife, his wife Nazli screamed. I ran home because I was scared.
For me it was a normal pocket knife. When I worked in Lachin district, I carried it with me because it was a war zone. I gave Vugar a stab. If he intended to kill him, he would have stabbed him not once, but ten or fifteen times.
I ran away immediately after the incident. I threw the knife into the water near the school. “The place was searched, but no knife was found.”
“I started chasing the girlfriend”
According to his father Ramil, who testified as the legal heir of the victim Vugar in the case, he heard rumors about the relationship between Jeyhun and Nazli in the village: “Before that, the executive representative of the village told me that he had called Jeyhun two times and told him not to destroy the community house, and then Jeyhun’s father, Khalil, spoke about his son’s actions and said that he should supervise his son.
The executive representative of the town said that his word was not kept. I decided to follow Vugar’s house. Although I searched the house on May 29 or 30, 2023, I did not see Jeyhu.”
Ramil noted that on the afternoon of June 2 he returned to look for his daughter-in-law Nazli near the oven in front of Vugar’s house: “My daughter-in-law and my granddaughter Chinara were also at home. I saw that the television was working. The place where I hiding was in the shade, although it was dark, the surroundings were clearly visible. At that moment the phone rang at home and my 12-year-old grandson came out of the house and called his mother Nazli.
I thought Nazli was home, but she came out of the building in front of the house. I thought I’d see if Ceyhun was coming.
After Nazli left, Chinara told her mother that someone called her to work tomorrow. Meanwhile, Jeyhun ran out of the building on the opposite side of the house and hid behind the oven near where I was standing. Nazli told my grandson Chinara that he has work tomorrow.
“I said I caught him with my girlfriend.”
Ramil said that later his granddaughter Chinara entered the house, and his daughter-in-law Nazli returned to Jeyhun and pulled down her clothes in front of him: “When I saw this, I said, ‘What are you doing? I’m going to kill you.'” Jeyhun ran away and Nazli went home.
I went to Nazli and told her that I have been chasing you for three days, get ready, you will go to your father’s house. Later I called Nazli’s father and told him what happened. Her father asked me to send Nazli home. I told my son Vugar what happened.
I went to Jeyhungil early the next morning. His parents appeared before me. I told them what situation I caught Jeyhun and Nazli in. Jeyhu’s father said why didn’t he kill his son right there, there was no such bad person in his generation.
After Jeyhun ran away, I went to my neighbor Afsa. “I told him I caught Jeyhun and Nazli together.”
“He came and went to the house through the window”
According to Ramil’s testimony, after returning home, his son Vugar filed for divorce in court: “However, we discovered that Nazli filed the request in court before my son.
Shortly before getting divorced, my son didn’t want Chinara to grow up without a mother, so he reconciled with Nazli and brought her home. My granddaughter Chinara later told me that Jeyhun used the ladder to enter and exit the house through the window.
On the day of the incident, I also went to the wedding and saw Jeyhu arriving there. He had a knife in his hand. He cut the apple into four parts with a knife and gave it to Yasin who was next to him.
When Yasin said he didn’t want to eat, Ceyhun said that it meant something and that today he would take someone’s life with this knife. I also saw Jeyhun writing money for the wedding with a knife in his hand. After that I went home.
As I later learned, my son Vugar, Nazli and my grandson Samir left the cave and wanted to return home. Jeyhun chased us. He told Vugar “stop, I have something to do with you.” “Then the murder happened.”
“He spread rumors that he caught me with Jeyhun”
According to the testimony of Nazli, who testified as a witness in the case, Jeyhun came and went with them, her husband Vugar, once or twice: “Jeyhun came to talk to Vugar as a compatriot or to fix his broken phone.
One night when my husband Vugar was not at home, Jeyhun came and called Vugar. I said Vugar isn’t home. Because of this matter, my father-in-law Ramil spread rumors in the village that he arrested me along with Jeyhun. That night they took my children from me. My mother-in-law, her sons-in-law and my husband kicked me out of the house.
I stayed at my father’s house for about 4 months. In Baram, nothing is left unsaid about Jeyhun. I even filed for divorce in court. However, since Vugar asked us to reconcile, I did not divorce and returned to my husband’s house. None of the family members made me talk.
On the day of the incident, I went with my husband to the small wedding party of my uncle’s daughter’s son. At the wedding, my husband Vugar didn’t stop because he saw Jeyhun there. When we left the cave and walked towards the house, Jeyhun came from behind with a knife in his hand. I put myself between them to separate them.
Vugar picked up a large stone from the ground and hit Jeyhun on the back. As a result of the impact, Jeyhun fell face down. And I screamed. After Jeyhun fell to the ground, he started sweeping the floor with my husband. Later, Jeyhun injured Vugar with a knife.”
This criminal case was heard in the Ganja Serious Crimes Court.
According to the court’s verdict, Jeyhun was sentenced to 17 years in prison. It has been determined that he will serve his sentence in a strict regime penitentiary institution.
