Feijóo announces an “agreement of the 14” that calls for a new financing model, but multilateralism

The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced this Friday that the 14 regional representatives of your party signed a manifesto in the who renounce bilaterality and they are asking for a new regional financing model. Of course, this will come from “multilaterality” and “all together”, assured the “popular” leader. from the summit of Madrid with its barons.

This was stated at a press conference, without asking questions, where he summarized that the regional presidents agreed that everything would go as planned. “Let’s stop the separatist quotas” of Catalonia; an “immediate economic injection into the LACC of 18 billion euros from European funds; a transition fund while a new financing model is negotiated; and, finally, “working together on a new model to update the financial system with more resources, but in a multilateral way.” In short, Feijóo wants this not to happen in any other form than a Fiscal and Financial Policy Council.

“If they are done in this order, andPP’s commitment is guaranteed for everyone to work together“, he said, constantly comparing his country’s model with that of the government of Pedro Sánchez and harshly criticizing the head of the Executive, whom he accused of giving up everything to stay in power. In this speech, Feijóo sought this common front so that all their presidents do not talk about financing in the Bilateral meetings announced by Sánchez in Moncloa and we do this in multilateral forums.

Rejection of “deceptive bilaterality”

So for Feijóo, yes “a new financing model and more resources are needed, much more” than those announced by the head of the Executive, and categorically rejecting the single financing agreement for CataloniaThe “Agreement 14”, in the form of a manifesto, was signed by the governments of the 12 autonomous communities and the two autonomous cities governed by the PP.

There were doubts about what the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, would say.since he had gone further by demanding the resignation of Sánchez. But in the end, he sent the same message as Feijóo when he appeared, also without asking questions. Of course, he did not specify whether he would go to the meeting with the socialist, assuring that “as long as there is no Conference of Presidents, it is not worth falling into the trap of speaking separately with Sánchez.”

For this reason, Feijóo stressed that “all” PP regional presidents and representatives resign “on purpose to fall into a deceptive bilaterality“, while they have committed to “contribute in a preventive manner” to establishing a new model that “takes into account the particularities of each territory”. This was the main wish expressed by Genoa since the president of the government announced bilateral meetings with the autonomous leaders.

Feijóo’s demands

The “popular” president assured that all the regional representatives of the PP “love their land the most, but Above there is something in common, which are the constitutional principles and loyalty to Spain.” Previously, he had stressed that “a new financing model and more resources are needed, much more than the 400 million” promised by the central Executive, but “the agreement between the government and independence does not improve public services, not even those of Catalonia.”

“This agreement only improves the financing of the process“, he criticized, adding that “the separatist share will be paid by all of us, but it does not solve the problems.” For him, what “brings solutions is the financial system updatebut agreed in the forums in which we are all, free from suspicion, and in which all Spaniards win.” “In the declaration, we commit ourselves to ensuring that what belongs to each one is agreed and discussed among all. Spain belongs to all Spaniards. “All together,” he insisted.

For this reason, he demanded as a condition that “the independence quota be abandoned and that the Government and the Generalitat of Catalonia return to loyalty.” He also requested the “immediate” convening of the Conference of Presidents and demanded an immediate injection of 18 billion euros for the autonomous communities financed by the Next Generation European funds that have not been executed and a temporary background while a new funding model is negotiated. “We demand more funds from the leftovers that the government does not allocate, preventing the return of funds to Europe,” he demanded.
