The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will meet this Monday with the National Board of Directors of the PP with the reconstruction works after DANA in the epicenter, although the Popular Party wants refocus attention on “scandals” which, according to him, surround the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, and distance him from the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón.
Indeed, the meeting of senior executives of the PP – the supreme body of the party between congresses which brings together the territorial “barons”, the parliamentarians of the formation and the territorial civil servants – takes place when a year ends of the inauguration of Pedro Sánchez as President of the Government.
“In 12 months, Sánchez approved the amnesty law, he agreed on a Catalan quota with the independence movement, the state attorney general was indicted and cases of alleged corruption like that of the Koldo affairsources from Feijóo’s team told Europa Press.
According to the ‘popular’, Sánchez obtained a “scandal record” in this last year which, according to him, represents a “government on fire”. “Never has a president of Spain had around him so many cases of corruption and so serious,” declared this weekend the deputy secretary for territorial policy of the PP, Elías Bendodo.
The PP wants to focus on the head of the Executive and, for this purpose, confirmed last Friday his appearance in the trial opened against his brother, David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, before court number 3 of Badajoz.
Coinciding with this anniversary of Sánchez’s inauguration, the PP released a video on social networks in which it assures that in one year of coalition government “Spain is going backwards and corruption is only increasing“. He also denounces Sánchez’s “fiscal axes”, the fact that he has “broken his promises on housing” and that Spain “doubles the European average of youth unemployment”.
The PP assures that in Spain there is a government “which does not govern” and which “only approved an immoral amnesty and put headphones in Congress”, while “counting its parliamentary defeats by the dozen”. “How long are you going to continue wasting the Spaniards’ time?”, ends the PP video.
Three weeks after DANA
The meeting of the National Board of Directors of the PP takes place almost three weeks after DANA, which left more than 220 dead and significant material damage. After apologizing and admitting that it could have been done better, Mazón committed himself this Friday to the reconstruction of the Valencian Community, demanding that the government of Pedro Sánchez be “up to the needs of those affected and advanced the creation of a commission of inquiry. in the Valencian Cortes and another in Congress.
Furthermore, Mazón declared that if he is not “capable of leading the reconstruction” of the villages in the province of Valencia devastated by DANA on October 29, he will personally assume “the political consequences.” does not run for election“as head of the Consell.
On the part of the national leadership of the PP, they described as “brave“his commitments and his announcements, especially since he links his political continuity to an “exemplary” management of the reconstruction in the Valencian Community, as sources from Feijóo’s team indicated to Europa Press.
In the PP it is emphasized that Mazón was the first to give explanations to Parliament, unlike Pedro Sánchez, who will not do so until November 27 (next Monday and Tuesday he will participate in the G20 summit in Brazil). “The President of the Government appears because does not have the necessary votes to prevent it”, underlined “popular” sources.
In ‘Génova’ they seek to emphasize the responsibility of the government after the disaster and in particular to the vice-president and Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, whose candidacy for European Commissioner they request to be withdrawn after having been “disappeared” within DANA.
At the Board meeting, Feijóo and his officials will once again express their solidarity and full support to those affected by the disaster, while the PP will once again demand that the government adjust the aid decrees because, according to the ‘popular’, there are ‘many gaps’.
“Budget hit”
After the government this week forced a further postponement of its tax package due to lack of support, Feijóo is expected to denounce again this Monday to his people the tax increases that he says the government is preparing.
“They are not designing a fiscal package, but they are preparing a fiscal axis,” he said last Friday in Santiago, where he denounced the “embarrassing competition” between members of the PSOE to put “obstacles” to taxpayers .
The economic spokesperson of the PP, Juan Bravo, indicated that his party would support the tax bill of the Executive if it adheres to the new global minimum tax of the 15% to multinational companieswhich comes from a European directive, but not if it is a “fiscal blow” which involves an increase in taxes on tobacco, diesel, vaping devices or banking services. According to him, the government’s intention with this law is to increase “more than 40” taxes.
