Feijóo proposes to increase personal income tax deductions per child from 1,200 to 1,800 euros per year

The president of the PP, Alberto Nuñez Feijóoargued yesterday that the conciliation law designed by the people raises increase income tax deductions per child from 1,200 to 1,800 euros per year to promote birth. Since this tax assistance was introduced in 1999, under the government of José María Aznar, its amount of 100 euros per month (1,200 euros per year) has never been updated.

On the other hand, the rule developed by the PP protects the bonuses granted to large families to hire caregivers or people who help at home. Concretely, it is planned to reduce the cost of social security by 45%. Furthermore, it also proposes maintaining the status of a large family even when the father or mother divorces and has shared custody.

After meeting in Barcelona with the Association of Large Families of Catalonia (Fanoc), the national leader of the PP detailed the content of the law with his Catalan counterpart in the party, Alejandro Fernández.

The leader of the PP explained that he would present the articles of the bill to social agents within a deadline series of contacts it’s going to start from October 7.

On the other hand, Feijóo recalled his commitment to free nursery schools from zero to three years oldthe approval of new tax cuts, the creation of a bank of hours and the expansion of paternity and maternity leave up to 20 weeks. “My approach is to co-finance 50% with the Generalitat of free nursery schools, both public, subsidized and private, as we already do in the autonomous communities governed by the PP,” he said.

In addition, Feijóo assured that for Catalan families it is much more priority to have free preschool education than to “open embassies”, in reference to the network of delegations of the Generalitat abroad.

Catalan law on birth

For his part, Fernández announced that the Catalan group of the PP will raise aregional law for the promotion of births and a autonomous law for the protection of large families.

Fernández welcomed Feijóo’s proposals to facilitate the reconciliation between professional and personal spheres as well as the measures aimed at promoting the birth rate, “one of the great priorities, also in Catalonia”.

In this sense, the leader regretted that the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, “left” family policies in a secretariat and that they do not have their own department.
