PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo is opposed to the central government forgiving part or all of the debt that the autonomous communities contracted with it during the financial crisis ten years ago, although he is aware that the PP community presidents Yes, they agree to renegotiate it. The cancellation of the regional debt is one of the points agreed between the PSOE and the ERC for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez, and its implementation will be negotiated at the same time as the reform of the financing system that allowed the independentists to vote in favor of Salvador. The PP leader is aware that his regional barons want to renegotiate the debt with the State because they have assured it on several occasions in public and private. The Valencian Carlos Mazón is one of the most combative in this sense, and this year he even requested the total management of certain taxes by the Autonomies, one of the central points of the PSOE agreement with ERC.
The Valencian Community has a very large debt to the State, and getting rid of it and paying the interest would be a relief for its coffers. Other regional leaders of the PP do not have this problem, or it is not so urgent, but they assure that if the melon of the renegotiation of financial commitments with the central government or new financing opens, they will have no choice but to attend the meetings that they are called to and try to negotiate in the best interests of their own. In fact, the Andalusian Juan Manuel Moreno has already demanded a similar treatment to that of Catalonia from the first vice-president and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero.
Feijóo keeps his barons united in rejecting the Catalan concert, but neither he nor his barons have proposed an alternative to the current system of regional financing, which everyone recognizes is exhausted.
