King Felipe VI presented his condolences to the families of the victims of DANA, a figure which rises to 64 in Spain after the latest assessment this Wednesday: 62 in the Valencian Community and 2 in Castile-La Mancha. The storm, also known as a cold drop, also unleashed its force in parts of Andalusia. The monarch stressed this Wednesday, from the Gando air base (Gran Canaria), the importance that there be “no limitation of means” for those who provide services in relation to the disaster.
Felipe VI had to attend the SIRIO 2024 exercise carried out by the Air and Space Force, but he is in permanent contact with the authorities and also spoke with Carlos Mazón, Emiliano García-Page and Juanma Moreno, as well as with Pedro Sánchez. and Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
In addition, he hopes to be able to contact by video conference “from Gando Air Base to have more formalized and detailed direct knowledge of what is happening,” he added.
After monitoring the situation, the King wanted to express his concern about the effects of DANA, which may still continue to cause problems in a large part of the country.
“The main thing is to express our condolences and our sadness for so much loss of human life,” underlined the monarch, specifying that the information is not yet complete and that the impact and scale of the storm could be more important. Queen Letizia also offered her condolences to “all the affected families who have lost loved ones and who, in some cases, still do not know what happened to some of their loved ones.”
Felipe VI underlined with particular interest the importance that there be “no limitation of means” for “all those who work”: “All the resources of the Autonomous Communities, of the State, of the EMU, of the armed forces, the emergency services, the firefighters… In short, everyone works and the important thing is to let them work, to let them do what they know how to do well and in a coordinated way, and that they have no problem. limits of means.
