Fernando Aranguren (UPN) takes up his position as councilor and returns to the Pamplona City Hall

Fernando Aranguren took up his duties this Thursday as new UPN advisor at Pamplona City Hall replacing María Echávarriwho presented his resignation on August 30 after considering that his situation had changed within the regionalist formation.

The inauguration of Aranguren was the first item on the agenda of the plenary session, during which the Mayor Joseba Asiron received it with a “welcome to the ring”.

The new councilor addressed the presidency and there he took the oath to the Constitution and received the badge that reproduces the city’s coat of arms and which is given to all councilors and councilors of the Pamplona City Hall.

After taking office, he sat down to applause on his chair with his municipal group to participate in the plenary session, during which he was also appointed municipal representative to the Commonwealth Assembly of the Pamplona Region.

During this ordinary plenary session, Aranguren was once again an advisor to the Pamplona City Hall fifteen months after occupying this position.

Aranguren served as Special Advisor for Sports and Youth between 2019 and 2023 with Enrique Maya as Mayor. Currently, he is a professor at Luis Amigo Schoolwork that he will combine with his work at the Pamplona City Council.

Diploma in Master’s degree in primary education from the Public University of Navarraholds a degree in Education in English from the Pontifical University of Salamanca and a course in Sports Management from the University of Navarra, among other academic and professional training.

Echávarri presented her resignation as a UPN councilor on August 30 because, as she explained in a statement, her situation “has changed within the party and the municipal group” and she does not find “the appropriate way” to continue contributing to the party, her colleagues and to improve the lives of the people of Pamplona.

“I consider that the most reasonable and coherent thing is to step down and give way to other people capable of carrying out this public service work,” he said.
