Fernando Torres denies the referee who sent him off and denies what is stated in the minutes

Fernando Torres posted a statement on his social networks in which he denies the referee who sent him off last Saturday, during the match between Atletico Madrid B and the Yeclano. The coach of the reserve team of the red and white team was sent off after 10 minutes of play, after two yellow cards. However, he does not agree with what is written in the minutes and therefore he gave explanations about what happened.

The coach said that given the accusations made by the referee against him, it seems “forced to publicly express disagreement” with the referee’s letter Palomares Gutierrez. The former player of the red and white team and current coach of his second team stressed that in the images of the match it is seen that what happened does not correspond to what the referee says in the minutes.

“Under no circumstances do I raise my finger to the fourth official or pronounce the sentence attributed to me”reveals Torres. The referee reflected on what happened, emphasizing that the first warning was due to an “obscene protest against the referee’s decision”, although the most serious comes in the explanation of the second card, since Palomares Gutierrez He pointed out that the red and white coach had told the fourth official “Be careful with me” in addition to indicating that “He pointed at him defiantly.”

Considering this, Fernando Torres issued a statement in which he denies what the arbitrator said in the minutes, although he does not consider that this was done on purpose, but that it is a matter of “a mistake.” In addition, he requested the cancellation of the sanction, once it is proven that what the referee indicates did not happen. “I hope that the corresponding commissions will allow me to carry out my work the next day”ends.

Statement by Fernando Torres

Respecting above all the work of the referee, I want to clarify what happened yesterday in Majadahonda because of the expulsion.

I am obliged to publicly express my disagreement with the wording of the minutes prepared by Mr. Palomares. The images show that in no case do I raise my finger at the fourth referee or pronounce the sentence attributed to me. I absolutely deny having expressed myself with the words that the writer of the minutes declares to be mine. I have always considered and defended the arbitration group, but I cannot ignore its incorrect wording.

I do not want to get into a controversy, but I do not accept what the referee writes about what happened, because it is not what he says. I understand the difficulty of your work, but such a mistake should not be made. I trust in his impartiality, but this time either he did not hear me correctly or he misunderstood the message. I hope that the relevant commissions will allow me to continue my work the next day.

Signed: Fernando Torres

B coach of Atlético de Madrid
