Final report on Ibrahim Raisi’s helicopter crash released

The main reason for the helicopter crash that killed Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and other officials was the complex weather and atmospheric conditions in the region.

Oku.Az According to Sharghdaily, the final report of the High Commissioner investigating the causes of the helicopter crash has been published.

The report states that in spring a mass of dense fog suddenly rose to a height and as a result the helicopter crashed into the mountain.

The report also mentions that the technical, engineering, electronic and navigation systems of the crashed helicopter were carefully examined and a result was obtained.

In addition, experts examined documents related to the helicopter’s maintenance over the past four years and no problems were noted.

The flight routes from Tabriz to the Aghband Bridge, the Qiz Galasi Dam and from there to the Tabriz Oil Refinery were carefully reviewed by experts and it was determined that the helicopter was moving along the intended route and did not deviate from this route.

The remaining parts and systems of the helicopter (engines, power and fuel transmission systems, electronic equipment) were tested by experts from the Aeronautical Industry Organization of the Ministry of Defense and no defects were found that influenced the occurrence of the accident.

The experts examined reports from the Meteorological Organization on the day of the accident, current weather conditions and warnings about unstable weather conditions.

According to the investigation report of the Forensic Medical Technical Committee, no suspicious cases were found in the toxicological and pathological examinations carried out on the bodies of the deceased persons.

Experts checked the helicopter’s parts and systems and found no signs of tampering.

Experts tested the helicopter’s attack and defence systems, electronic warfare, the possibility of creating a magnetic field and a laser, and ruled out any influence of these circumstances on the accident.

Taking into account all the circumstances, detailed expert examinations, specialized investigations and their results, the final opinion of the Supreme Expert Council of the General Staff of the Armed Forces is as follows: “The main reason for the helicopter crash was the complex climatic and atmospheric conditions of the region, the sudden increase of a dense mass of fog in the spring months and the collision of the helicopter with the mountain.”

It should be noted that the helicopter carrying Ibrahim Raisi and other officials crashed on May 19 this year in Iranian territory. President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Huseyn Amir Abdullahian and several other officials were killed in the accident.
