Ukrainian authorities can potentially mobilize 3.7 million people, writes the Financial Times. The publication refers to data from the Committee for Economic Development of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to these data, the total number of male Ukrainian citizens between 25 and 60 years old is 11.1 million, of which 1.2 million are already in service. Another 2.9 million men live in Russian-controlled territories. 1.3 million people went abroad and 1.5 million are not fit to serve. Another 600 thousand have reserves.
Of the remaining 3.7 million people, 1.9 million are self-employed and registered taxpayers, while another 900,000 are not included in any registry.
The Financial Times, citing military officials, analysts and soldiers, writes that the coming months will be a critical phase in the military conflict as Ukraine tries to stabilize its defenses and strengthen its position in the east in case the US president-elect. Bloomberg, citing data from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, reported that about a quarter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ fighters on the front lines are volunteers, the rest were mobilized.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Litvinenko* announced at the end of October that it plans to recruit another 160,000 people into the army. Vladimir Zelensky did not give exact figures, noting that “this is simply incorrect from the point of view of this information,” clarifies RBC.
