A new park managed by the MCP
The new Ezkaba Regional Park It covers an approximate area of 1,000 hectares and its development perimeter includes eight municipalities: Ansoáin / Antsoain, Berrioplano / Berriobeiti, Berriozar, Juslapeña / Txulapain, Ezcabarte, Villava / Atarrabia, Pamplona / Iruña and Huarte / Uharte. In addition to these town halls, the town halls of Aizoáin/Aitzoain, Arre, Artica/Artika, Azoz/Azotz, Berriosuso/Berriogoiti, Cildoz/Zildotz, Oricáin, Orrio and Unzu also participated in the promotion of the Regional Park.
In December 2022, promoted by the local entities of the aforementioned area and coordinated by the MCP, the PSIS of the Ezkaba Regional Park after the complex procedures started in 2016. In May 2023, the Commonwealth General Assembly approved the transfer of management of the new park from the municipalities to the regional entity.
Currently, we are working with municipalities and councils to establish priorities for the development of the Ezkaba Strategic Plan in which different actions are considered to increase its value. Its protection, fire prevention as well as the conservation of its natural and cultural heritage as well as the regulation of uses and activities are continued.
The experience accumulated over the years in the Regional river parkof Pamplona by the MCP allows us to follow this example of management in the new regional space.
Urgent measures for the maintenance and cleaning of the mountain
It should be remembered that, throughout these years, while promoting the treatment of the SIEP, particular attention has always been paid to the approach of different projects that have allowed the adoption of different improvements in the Mount Ezkaba: network of mountain and mountain bike trails, signage, limitation of access to trails, maintenance of spaces and actions with volunteers. In this context, the mountain cleaning volunteer day is organized, which has precedents from the days organized in 2016, 2021 and 2023.
