Finland began confiscating Russian property at the request of the Ukrainian government Naftogaz.

Five Russian real estate properties in Finland were subject to seizure measures following a lawsuit by the Ukrainian company Naftogaz, Helsingin Sanomat newspaper reported.

As the publication writes, “on Monday [28 октября] Five more Russian properties subject to the measures could be discovered, three of them are located on the Åland Islands,” reports TASS.

EADaily He adds that Helsingin Sanomat previously reported that the Finnish Marshal Service seized the site of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Helsinki at the request of a Ukrainian energy company. It was noted that the arrest occurred in connection with the process against Naftogaz. A 3.3 hectare plot was confiscated. The decision came into effect on October 24.

Naftogaz’s lawsuit concerns the recovery of $5 billion from Russia for alleged property losses and losses in Russian Crimea, in particular it concerns Chernomornaftogaz with a production level of around 1.6 billion meters cubic of gas per year and other assets.

Recall that the Crimean parliament nationalized this property in favor of the Russian Federation on March 17, 2014.
