The first train carrying goods from China arrived in the capital of Balkh province in northern Afghanistan. Composed of 55 wagons, it traveled a long way through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 22 days, reports the official agency of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Alemarah.
On this occasion, a solemn ceremony was held in the provincial capital of Mazar-i-Sharif, which was attended by the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce and the delegation accompanying him, the Deputy Governor of Balkh Province, the Director of the Chamber of Balkh Trade and Investment, as well as other senior officials of the Emirate.
On the way back the train is scheduled to pick up export cargo from Afghanistan for delivery to countries along the route.
