“My son Nihad Tafdig oglu Rzayev, who left to work in Chechnya since May, my brothers-in-law Elkhan Akbar oglu Shirinov and Vugar Nazim oglu Maharramov are currently detained due to the migration issue.”
According to Tafdig Rzayev, Nihad’s father, a resident of Tovuz region, speaking to Qafqazinfo, they want to send their relatives to the war zone in Ukraine under pressure from the military to sign.
Contact was made with Elkhan Shirinov and Vugar Maharramov, currently detained in the “Severni Akhmat” military unit located in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya.
Elkhan Shirinov, who said that they were forcibly signed documents at the temporary detention center, said that five Azerbaijanis were detained with them:
“Two of us (Vugar Maharramov and Elkhan Shirinov) are currently in the military unit, and the other 3 people are in prison. Finally, they are with them. Those 2 Azerbaijanis were brought there before us. They will probably want to force them to sign documents. 3 of us are here as migrants. During our stay, we were detained because our documents were not in order and we were offered to join the army, but we were sent back and signed the document because our level of knowledge was low. If you want to run away, we will take you to an empty field and torture you. After all, why should I go to fight in Ukraine? We were threatened on behalf of the Chechen minister.”
