Madrid Municipal Police officers arrested five citizens of Senegalese origin, from whom they seized a total of 172 counterfeit items, in an operation against the ‘top manta’ in the Puerta del Sol area, a spokesman for the Local Corps informed Europa Press.
The intervention took place last Thursday at 3:25 p.m. A few days before, the agents had received complaints from traders, neighbors and tourists because there were a large number of illegal street vendors occupying a large part of the public space and trying to sell their products, which prevented the movement of fluids of people due to the situation and access to shops.
First, a plainclothes officer went to the scene to verify the information. Then seven informers arrived, each composed of two Municipal Police officers, who They surrounded the twenty manteros installed there.
They tried to escape, throwing two elderly people to the ground on the way to Puerta del Sol and another on Conde de Romanones Street, who did not need to be treated by paramedics.
Finally, the five Senegalese were arrested in the streets of Esparteros, Doctor Cortezo, Conde de Romanones and Marqués Viuda de Pontejos. Due to active resistance to their arrest, two municipal police officers were injuredone with a broken tooth and others with a right shoulder injury and stitches, which caused a work stoppage.
The arrested persons, between 25 and 31 years oldwere transferred to the central police station of the national police accused of crimes against industrial property and another of resistance and disobedience to authority. Two of them required medical assistance from Samur-Protection Civile at the police station.
