Five National Police officers were arrested this Tuesday as part of an operation against drug trafficking carried out in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville), as reported by ABC.
According to the National Police, the operation is large-scale and is directed against drug trafficking activities detected in the Sevillian city. Sources from the aforementioned body explained to EFE that this operation remains open and is subject to summary secrecy.
In statements provided to the media, the government’s subdelegate in Seville, Francisco Toscano, called for “caution” in the face of this anti-drug operation and added that the investigation was underway “at this moment.”
Toscano expressed his gratitude to the province’s security forces who “fight tirelessly against a problem such as drug trafficking,” also recalling that with this type of operations, the Spanish government demonstrates its commitment to ending crimes “regardless of who commits them.”
At this time, no further information has been released on the alleged involvement of these five officers detained because of their alleged connections with drug distribution networks. The judicial proceedings related to the events are subject to summary secrecy.
For all these reasons, the Government’s subdelegate in Seville insisted on “appealing with caution” until they have “all the data” and so that the security forces can do their job “in the best way, as they usually do their job.”
