Five people arrested in Tel Aviv protests

Five people were arrested during protests in Tel Aviv, The Times of Israel reports, citing police. The department explained that the reason for the arrests was violation of order, as well as an attack on police officers and other participants in the action. Among those arrested was a minor.

According to the protest organizers, 500,000 people turned out to demonstrate in Tel Aviv on the evening of September 7. However, this is equal to the population of the city.

Protesters accuse Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the sense that he deliberately prevents the conclusion of an agreement for the release of hostages and shouts slogans: “Netanyahu is a murderer.”

Protests also took place in other cities. In particular, relatives of the hostages gave speeches during a protest near Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem.

Mass protests regularly take place across the country. Demonstrators are demanding the immediate release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip and early elections.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas militants attacked southern Israel. According to the Israeli side, more than 1,200 people were killed and about 250 military personnel and civilians were captured. As of September 2024, 101 hostages remain in Hamas captivity, and at least a third of them are already dead.
