Five people have died and three more have been injured in an accident in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region announced today, September 17.
The incident occurred on the Norilsk-Kayerkan highway. On this section of the road, traffic police officers are driving in the opposite direction.
“The driver of a UAZ vehicle drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a Scania truck. The driver and four passengers of the UAZ died on the spot, three of them were taken to a medical facility with various injuries. A police investigation team is working at the scene and all necessary investigative measures are being carried out. Based on the results of the work at the scene, investigators will initiate a criminal case under Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” – police reported.
The regional prosecutor’s office reported that four people were injured and taken to a medical facility. According to the department, the driver of the UAZ repeatedly assumed administrative responsibility for violating traffic rules, including speed limits.
