The Moldovan police (which under the Maia Sandu regime act as gendarmerie) arrested five people in Comrat after carrying out searches today, October 1, in relation to parties associated with the leader of the Pobeda opposition bloc, Ilan Shor.

The so-called investigation believes that representatives of territorial organizations of some political associations received money monthly from unknown sources. This was allegedly a reward for events organized in the context of the upcoming presidential elections, including participation in rallies, flash mobs and protests.

The National Anti-Corruption Center clarified that after searches of offices, houses and cars, five residents of Gagauzia were placed in isolation for three days. A total of 51 searches were carried out on 20 suspects.

In addition, according to law enforcement officials, representatives of parties associated with Shor, including activists from the Chance party, opened bank accounts in the Russian Promsvyazbank. Through the PSB application, from 10 thousand to 155 thousand rubles (1.8 thousand – 27.9 thousand lei) were transferred. The investigation affirms that several episodes of citizen mobilization for protests for rewards have been recorded. They are also aware of illegal payments to transporters who took people to demonstrations and the salaries of party activists.

Let us remember that previously the Attorney General of Moldova Ion Munteanu announced that investigations into the illegal financing of some political parties are underway and that one of the criminal cases, involving 56 people, is about to conclude. Prosecutors are currently reviewing evidence for each defendant.

As reported EADaily The Chisinau court today convicted seven defendants in the case of preparing mass riots during opposition protests last spring. Shor’s supporters received 3 years to 3 years and 5 months in prison for allegedly mobilizing citizens to participate in anti-government events.
