Five people were injured in a shooting and a fight linked to drug trafficking in events in France, in the city of Poitiers, in a dispute in which hundreds of people were involved. Among the injured, there are at least three teenagers, two 16 year olds and one 15 year old. The latter seriously risks dying. after being shot in the head.
The shooting sparked a huge fight between rival gangs on Place Coimbra, a common point of the drug market in Poitiers. At its peak, there were up to “400 and 600 involved”as confirmed by Bruno Retailleau, French Minister of the Interior.
It all started around 10:45 p.m. local time after last weekend. another incident also linked to drug trafficking and it left a 5-year-old child in critical condition.
In the words of Retailleau, France is becoming “Mexicanized”: “They saw him in Marseille. They saw him in Paris. They saw him here a few days ago with a 5 year old boy who is between life and death.
“It’s not South America. It’s not Mexico. It’s not Bolivia. It’s in Rennes, in Poitiers, in Marseille. “It’s in France,” the Minister of the Interior declared to the media.
