Following the intense heat in Africa, heavy snowfall fell and the state border was closed

A significant part of the border between South Africa and Lesotho has been closed to the movement of people and goods due to heavy snowfall over the past 24 hours.

Oku.Az This was reported by South African Border Control Agency spokesman Meme Mogotsi, referring to TASS.

“The Sani, Busmansnek and Mononcha border crossings connecting South Africa and Lesotho have been closed since 21 September until further notice due to bad weather,” it said.

It should be noted that the snow that fell on Saturday in the south-east and north-west of South Africa brought traffic to a standstill on many roads. Drivers and passengers had to spend up to 12 hours in their cars.

It should be noted that in South Africa temperatures that reached 36 degrees earlier this week have been replaced by cold and snow. Such significant temperature changes are rare in September, the first month of spring in the southern hemisphere, where South Africa is located. Meteorologists warn that unusually cold weather in South Africa will continue until next Wednesday.
