Forest fire in Agullana (Girona) forces AP-7 and high-speed line to be closed

A forest fire in Agullana (Girona) forces from this afternoon for cut AP-7 and the line High speed from Figueres (Girona) to the border area with France. The Catalan firefighters specified on their account on the social network X that the fire affects a forest and agricultural area and that 18 vehicles and five aerial vehicles have already moved to the site to try to shoot it down.

Around 5 p.m., the firefighters asked cut off the traffic of high-speed trains and the AP-7 in both directions due to the proximity of the fire to both points. As a result of this fire, the AP-7 is closed between exits 1 and 3, in the La Jonquera neighborhood, and traffic is diverted to the N-II. Also due to the fire, the GI-500 motorway between Agullana and La Jonquera is closed.

The Rural Agents Corps of the Generalitat has specified that this Saturday level 3 of the Alpha plan due to the high risk of forest fires is activated in 26 municipalities of Alt Empordà and in three other municipalities of Baix Empordà. Due to this high risk of fire, it is prohibited to light fires on forest land and in a 500-metre strip near these areas.
