Forest fire in El Paso (La Palma) forces 200 residents to evacuate

declared a forest fire in El Riachuelo, El Paso (La Palma), with a flare crossing the area and visible for several kilometers. Land vehicles were sent to the scene to intervene on the flames, which are worrying and have put the entire island on alert.

The fire occurred in weather conditions favorable to the extinguishing teams, since there is no wind in the region.

Social networks were filled with videos and photos of the fire, which the media on the ground were working on and which led, as a preventive measure, to evacuate residents in homes located in the Valencia and Los Barriales neighborhoods, areas that had to be completely evacuated, moving residents to the El Paso Fairgrounds, which is authorized for this purpose.

Concretely, the device which operates on site is composed of 80 peoplebetween the environmental staff of the Cabildo de La Palma, the municipal firefighters, as well as the firefighters, the Civil Guard, the local police and Cecopin officials.
