The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has appointed former Bank of Spain governor Pablo Hernández de Cos as general manager from July 1, 2025, replacing Mexican Agustín Carstens.
As the organization reported this Monday in a press release, the appointment of Hernández de Cos will last five years and will succeed Carstens, whose mandate ends at the end of June 2025.
The BIS Board of Directors highlighted that Hernández de Cos “is a person of remarkable caliber and global experience”, which is why they are convinced that “he will embody the spirit of international trust and of technical excellence on which the BRI is based.
