Former officials accused of accepting bribes are brought before the judge

Former officials accused of bribery and other serious crimes appear before the judge under threat from the State Customs Committee.

According to information from “Qafqazinfo”, the preliminary investigation of the criminal case carried out in the General Anti-Corruption Office under the Prosecutor General’s Office has concluded.

Former customs officials include Elchin Shabanov, head of the Tovuz Customs Department, Vasif Abiyev, head of the Red Bridge customs post of that department, Turab Nasirov, inspector of the Baku General Customs Department, Elmir Mammadov, inspector from Sumgayit Customs Department and Tavakgul Bayramov, former customs employee.

In addition, Telman Ibrahimov, founder of the limited liability company “Karvan 313”, former customs official Arif Rzayev, Sahin Soltanov, Rovshan Ibrahimov and Fakhreddin Ibrahimov, deputy director of the company, were declared criminally responsible together with them. .

Well-founded suspicions have been established that former customs officials are indifferent to the emergence of illegal situations, which causes millions of additional customs payments to be evaded that are not paid to the state budget.

According to the indictment, the businessmen created conditions on the part of customs officials when they had to remove the various products that were to be exported from the country’s territory with up to 60 cargo vehicles, as well as the various products brought from Iranians in transit, declared according to the customs documents and depending on their destination, they were removed from the route and replaced by shipments of precious metals that were moved from the Red Bridge customs post to the territory of Georgia.

Many of those accused of bribery, smuggling and negligence are in prison. For some of them, an alternative preventive measure was chosen until the trial.

The case will be investigated at the Ganja Serious Crimes Court.
