Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000) has died at the age of 86 after a long battle with cancer, his daughter Keiko Fujimori announced.
“After a long battle with cancer, our father Alberto Fujimori has just gone to meet the Lord. We ask those who appreciated him to join us in prayer for the eternal rest of his soul. Thank you very much, Dad! Keiko, Hiro, Sachi and Kenji Fujimori” – says Keiko Fujimori’s blog entry in X.
Fujimori was president of Peru from 1990 to 2000, after which he spent more than 15 years in prison, convicted of abuse of power, corruption and crimes against humanity. The politician was released in 2023 on humanitarian grounds due to illness.
