Former school principal in Azerbaijan was fitted with an electronic bracelet

The hearing on the appeal against the sentence of Kahraman Orujov, accused of abuse of power, has ended in the Baku Court of Appeal.

According to information obtained by Pravda.az, the decision was announced at the trial presided over by Judge Hasan Ahmadov.

According to the decision, the appeal was not upheld.

According to the indictment, Kahraman Orujov worked as the director of the full-time special secondary school No. 115 of Penitentiary No. 11 operating under the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice in 2019-2021. During the period of his work, he abused his authority to obtain certificates for students.

The Baku City Education Department of the Ministry of Education is recognized as a victim.

According to the verdict of the Binagadi District Court, the defendant was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 308.1 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to two years of restriction of liberty (electronic bracelet). At the same time, the victim legal entity (civil plaintiff) filed a civil claim against Kahraman Orujov from the Baku City Education Department of the Ministry of Education, and as a result of the criminal act he was charged with 16,975.69 manats and ordered to pay it to the said Department. Dissatisfied with the verdict, the convicted man filed an appeal.
