Former top manager of the construction department of the Russian Ministry of Defense arrested

The former head of the equipment and mechanisms department of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Main Directorate of Military Construction No. 14” of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Igor Kushch, is accused of receiving five bribes worth 34 million rubles, the investigation against him has been concluded, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.

“The military investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation have completed investigative proceedings in the criminal case against the former head of the equipment and mechanisms department of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Main Directorate of Military Construction No. 14” from the Russian Federation. Ministry of Defense Igor Kushch. He is accused of committing five crimes under section 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale)”, – says the message.

The total amount of bribes attributed to Kushch amounts to 34 million rubles. According to investigators, he received them between December 2022 and March 2024 from businessmen whom he helped obtain road equipment released from the Federal State Unitary Enterprise.

Now Kushch is in a pre-trial detention center and his assets worth 50 million rubles have been confiscated.

“Once the accused has become familiar with the materials of the criminal case, it will be submitted for approval of the indictment and sending it to the court.” – added to the UK.

It was previously reported that GVSU No. 14 is also involved in the case of the theft of more than 875 million rubles during the reconstruction of the main testing ground for military aircraft in Akhtubinsk.

According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, in eight months of 2024, 497 criminal cases were opened for crimes in the field of the military-industrial complex and the execution of state defense orders.
