The winner of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku will be announced today.
Oku.Az reports that the main race will start at 3:00 p.m.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was first in qualifying yesterday. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri took second place, Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz took third place. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Mercedes’ George Russell completed the first fifth place.
The Formula 2 battle will end today. The main race for secondary drivers will start at 11:35. Richard Verschor from the Trident team got the best result in the qualifying round.
The Baku circuit, which consists of 20 turns and 51 laps, covers a total distance of 306.049 km. The first race in the capital took place in 2016 as the European Grand Prix. The following seven tournaments were called the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
In 2016, German Nico Rosberg completed the race faster than anyone else. In the following years, Daniel Ricciardo (Australia), Lewis Hamilton (Great Britain), Valtteri Bottas (Finland), Sergio Perez (Mexico) and Max Verstappen (Netherlands) finished the track in first place, respectively. In 2023, Peres won for the second time in Baku. In 2020, the competition was not organized in our capital due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Red Bull’s Dutch driver Max Verstappen leads the field with 303 points ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. McLaren’s Lando Norris is second with 241 points, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is third with 217 points. Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri is fourth with 197 points, and another Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, is fifth with 184 points.
In the Constructors’ Cup, “Red Bull” is first with 446 points, “McLaren” is second with 438 points and “Ferrari” is third with 407 points.
