It’s official. General Motors will be part of Formula 1 Since 2026 and the competition will have eleven teamsinstead of the ten that there are currently.
F1 itself announced this in an official statement: “With Formula 1’s continued growth plans in the United States, we have always believed that welcoming an impressive brand American like GM/Cadillac on the network, and General Motors as a future powertrain supplier, could bring additional value and interest to the sport.
“We thank the leadership of General Motors and its partners for the significant progress in preparing them to enter Formula 1. We are excited to advance the application process for the team. GM/Cadillac enters the championship in 2026” said Liberty Media CEO and President Greg Maffei.
Rumors announced the possible entry of a new team a few weeks ago, but it is now a done deal. when it becomes official. All this after a complex network of negotiations during which several organizations and factories decided to agree to give the Formula 1 one more team.
