The Community of Madrid has expanded to 40 million eurosalmost two million more than initially planned, public aid for the renewal of passenger and freight transport fleets, with the aim of promoting the decarbonization of urban mobility and improving data on air quality , reports a press release.
The Regional Executive indicated that this increase in these grants aims to respond to applications that are still on the waiting list despite meeting the requirements.
The regional government is thus encouraging the transformation of the heavy vehicle fleet, by facilitating scrapping, the purchase of new models with low-carbon alternative energies and the installation of charging stations.
The deadline for submitting these aids for trucks up to 3.5 tonnes and buses, among other vehicles, expired on April 30 and was recorded approximately 2,700 requests. These grants are financed by European Next Generation funds.

This initiative from the Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure includes different amounts depending on the subsidized activity.
Thus, scrappage aid ranges between 2,500 and 25,000 euros; those for the acquisition of low-carbon alternative energy vehicles, between 10,000 and 200,000; those for the modification of the form of propulsion, up to 20,000 euros, and for the purchase of semi-trailers for rail highways, an amount of 1,000 euros is set. In addition, these subsidies also provide aid of between 10,000 and 70,000 euros for the implementation of charging infrastructure.
