Friedrich Knapp, the German billionaire and businessman, founder and director of the famous “New Yorker” clothing chain, died at the age of 73.

According to the Bild newspaper, Knapp, who rarely appeared in public, died last week on the island of Zult after lengthy treatment in Switzerland. He was reported to have been seriously ill about a year ago.
